I hope by “Galaxies” they mean other Nintendo characters out there. Can you imagine movies based on Star Fox, Metroid, Kirby, Zelda…all leading to a potential Super Smash Brothers Movie. It might be the closest thing to what Marvel and DC have right now if done right. An expanded universe based of Nintendo.

She honestly does sound more fitted for Zelda voice, only because I always imagine peach to sound more cutesy? Like they could’ve honestly done that and still made her a badass lol

Lmao you’re correct I worded that wrong, I just mean how I imagined it being in this animated film adaptation of it, what I was hoping for lol I just always liked her Mario sunshine voice, her voice in Luigi’s mansion lol even her small lines in smash is cute! Tho I guess she does kind of sound like the peach in Mario 64 but I honestly wasn’t a fan of that one

I feel like everyone's voices are super off. Like I didn't expect them to get the voice actors from the video games to do the movie obviously, but they didn't even shoot for anything reminiscent of those voices.

And the mention of “galaxies needing our help” no less. They’re going all out with this film and its source material. At this point I think a Smash movie is a legitimate possibility, with the rumors of a Zelda film and how well Mario will perform in the BO, they’d legitimately be insane not to make a bunch of Nintendo movies and tie them all together with an Avengers-level Smash movie.

As it turns out Mario is the perfect setup for a fantasy action movie. Even Super Mario Bros. The Movie had non stop references to the games that led from one action sequence to another. There was kart racing in the first movie, but it got cut.

u/brb1006 Nov 29 '22
Dammit, if a sequel to this movie ever happens. They I hope to god it's based off the original Super Mario Galaxy game from 2007. It's the most cinematic the Mario series has gotten. Look at the opening and ending cutscenes! As much as I enjoyed Galaxy 2, it doesn't feel as cinematic or epic as the first game. Not even Odyssey can top that level of epicness as the original Galaxy game.
→ More replies→ More replies95
u/AstralComet Nov 29 '22
I wondered that too, probably just a nod to Super Mario Galaxy though, and a possible sequel tease. Rosalina, the Lumas, and Mario Galaxy require a lot more explanation than they could fit into a first movie like this that's mostly about the Mushroom Kingdom itself. I'd love to be wrong and to see her show up, but unless it's a quick cute cameo I'm expecting no one that isn't a part of the "core" Mario story.

Nintendo is fully aware Rosalina is among Mario's most popular supporting characters these days post-Galaxy. It took a few years for them to really notice it, but once they did she started showing up all over; first with her being playable in 3D World totally unexpectedly and continuing into her getting a coveted Smash slot, and also notably in Mario Kart Tour for mobile phones she's got more costumes than anyone except for Mario, Peach, and maybe Yoshi (if I recall correctly), even more than Luigi, Toad, Bowser, Daisy...
It wouldn't surprise me if she gets a quick cameo or sequel hook appearance at the end.
